How can a person become a disciple-making leader?

DISCIPLES WHO MAKE DISCIPLES, WHO MAKE MORE DISCIPLES = A WORLDWIDE REVOLUTION!

Jesus' mission to the Church is to make disciples; we have all been called to this as disciples are agents of change and transformation in our communities. Our churches exist to form disciples, who make disciples who make more disciples.

Therefore, we are a training center for all those wishing to be part of The Bonhoeffer Project, whose mission is to transform the culture of the church into a disciple-making one.

Do you long to create a culture of disciple-making in your church? Do you want to equip leaders to be disciple-makers rather than program leaders? Do you really want a transformation in people's lives beyond just attending a Sunday service? This is not just another discipleship program.

Through face-to-face or online cohorts we, through The Bonhoeffer Project, want to challenge you to examine how to create opportunities on a daily basis for disciple-making and transformation of lives, churches and nations.

Rather than offering materials, we want to partner with you and work together for a year of learning and mentoring so that you can create a discipleship DNA in your faith community.

The Bonhoeffer Project has been designed to bring clarity to this process and assist each church in its mission of making disciples. Count on us!

During the Pandemic: The Bonhoeffer Project Argentina Story

By Eduardo Petrecca, Director of Argentina

Four years ago, I was appointed as senior pastor of the church where I grew up in and had attended since my childhood.

Believe it or not, I knew that I knew a lot about church (strategies, programs, finance, etc.), but not that much about making disciples.

Motivated to make a change in our church culture towards disciple making, I contacted The Bonhoeffer Project with the idea of asking about any virtual cohort options that would allow me to join, given the distance. The obstacles to join a cohort from somebody living in the other part of the world were not only the distance, time zones, and language, but also cost.

Thanks to the generosity of The Bonhoeffer Project leaders, and the willingness to work virtually, I had the opportunity to be part of Stephen Kimbrell and Bill Hull’s founder’s cohort. I believe God prepared it all.

The experience of the cohort was transformative for me and the church I pastor. We started to experience great blessings, reaching the lost and discipling them.

During last year we imagined having The Bonhoeffer Project in Spanish and since then I have been inspired and motivated to work on it.

Argentina has more than 20,000 churches; Christians represent 15% of the population, but do not have much impact in the country.  Several historians believe that Emperor Constantine generated a cultural change in the whole Roman empire given Jesus’ disciples expansion and mission execution. In those days, Christians had still not reached 10% of the population.

According to a recent survey we know that 20.5% are nominal Christians (they call themselves Christians, but only attend church on special occasions) and 17.5% do not go to church at all. And the rest? They are involved in many church activities and are very busy with the enormous challenge of learning how to make disciples who make disciples. Something that, in my opinion, is still not on the first page of pastor’s agendas.

As imagined in our cohort last year, we launched TBP Argentina in March 2021 with a cohort of eight pastors and four leaders from different churches.

We believe that there is a message from God to the church in the midst of this pandemic that the church needs to read. And this message fundamentally has to do with focusing on Jesus’ mission through disciple making. Disciples who make disciples who make more disciples. As Bill Hull says, “This is the only thing that God authorized us to do.”
